Spring · Hathaura Color Standard v1.0
Warm Spring (True Spring) Color Palette & Celebrities
Warm Spring is the warmest of the Spring seasons: golden, light-to-medium and clear. It is defined first by warmth, then by brightness: its best colors are sunny, yellow-based and fresh, never cool or dusty.
Moodboard and outfit are AI-generated illustrations. Celebrity photos are credited in the celebrities section.
If you have ever been told you "glow" in coral, look sunny in a golden-yellow top, and somehow look tired or grey in black, silver-grey or dusty mauve, you may be a Warm Spring. This guide covers how to recognize the season, the exact colors that flatter it (with hex codes you can shop with), what to avoid and why, how to build outfits and a capsule wardrobe, makeup and hair direction, and how to tell Warm Spring apart from its closest neighbors.

Where Warm Spring sits among the 12 seasons
How to recognize a Warm Spring
Skin
Skin is clearly warm: peach, golden-ivory, golden-beige, honey or warm golden brown, often with a natural glow rather than a matte look. Many Warm Springs tan easily and have freckles across the nose and cheeks. There is little or no pink or blue showing through. Warm Spring exists across every skin depth, from fair to deep.
Eyes
Eyes are warm and fairly clear: golden hazel, warm green, topaz, clear warm brown, or warm aqua-blue with golden flecks. They usually have a bright, lively quality, but are rarely as icy or high-contrast as Winter eyes.
Hair
Natural hair is golden-warm and light to medium in depth: golden blonde, strawberry blonde, honey brown, copper, auburn or warm golden brown, often with natural highlights that catch the sun. On deeper skin, hair may be dark brown to black with a visible warm, reddish or golden sheen. Hair alone is an unreliable clue, because dye, sun and age change it more than skin or eyes.
Signs you're a Warm Spring
- Warmth is the first thing people notice about your coloring: golden skin, golden or coppery hair, warm eyes. Nothing about you reads cool or ashy.
- Black and dark charcoal look heavy on you. They pull the color out of your face, while navy, chocolate or caramel look easy and fresh.
- Cream and warm ivory flatter you more than bright white, which can make your skin look yellow by comparison.
- Yellow gold looks clearly better than silver. Polished gold, rose gold and bronze all look natural on you.
- Dusty, greyed colors (mauve, taupe, sage-grey, dusty rose) make you look tired or flat, even though they are "gentle".
- You get compliments in clear, sunny colors: coral, peach, golden yellow, turquoise, grass green, warm red.
Signs you're probably not a Warm Spring
- Your coloring is very dark and rich, and golden yellow or peach looks too light and sweet on you. That points toward Warm Autumn or Deep Autumn.
- You have striking contrast between very dark hair and light skin, and vivid jewel tones look better than golden colors. That points toward Bright Spring or Bright Winter.
- Your coloring is very light and delicate, and even medium-bright colors feel like too much. That points toward Light Spring.
- Cool, rosy colors such as lavender, raspberry and blue-grey look better than any warm color. That points toward a Summer season.
The most common mistype
The most common mistype is Warm Autumn. Both seasons are fully warm, so both look best in golden colors and gold jewelry. The difference is value and chroma: Warm Spring is lighter and clearer (coral, peach, golden yellow, turquoise), while Warm Autumn is deeper and more earthy (rust, mustard, olive, chocolate). A Warm Spring in Autumn colors looks heavier and older; a Warm Autumn in Spring colors looks washed out. The second most common mistype is Bright Spring: Bright Spring can carry more saturated, slightly cooler brights and more contrast, which would look loud on a Warm Spring.
Warm Spring contrast level
Contrast is the difference in depth between your skin, hair and eyes. Warm Springs are typically medium: there is some difference between hair and skin, and the eyes are clear enough to stand out, but nothing is stark. That is why black-and-white outfits overpower Warm Springs, while combinations with a clear color against a warm light neutral (coral with cream, navy with golden yellow) look lively and balanced.
Lighting and camera caveats
62%
of selfie retakes on ColorSnap AI landed on a different season
1 in 15
stylist re-analyses on the Hathaura platform changed season (small sample)
Lighting changes everything. Warm indoor bulbs add yellow to every color and every skin tone, which can make a neutral or cool season look like a Warm Spring in a selfie, and a cool phone flash can make a Warm Spring look grey or sallow, pushing the result toward Autumn or Summer. When people retook selfie analyses on ColorSnap AI (our own free tool), their season changed 62% of the time (56 of 90 retakes). When stylists re-analyzed a client on the Hathaura platform with a new photo, the season changed once in 15 re-analyses, a small sample but a very different picture. For a reliable read, test colors in indirect daylight near a window, with no makeup, no filters and hair pulled back, and compare two colors at a time. Compare color analysis apps.
Warm Spring drape tests
Hold each pair of colors under your chin in daylight, one at a time, and watch your skin, not the fabric.
| Test | Warm Spring color | Compare with | What to look for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warmth test | Coral #EA9878 | Cool Summer Pink #E97BA0 | In coral, skin should look warm and healthy and the eyes brighter. If the cool pink looks fresher and coral makes you look yellow or flushed, you are probably not a Warm Spring. |
| Clarity test | Turquoise #68C0A8 | Soft Autumn Sage #78A898 | The clear turquoise should light up your face. If the muted sage looks more harmonious and turquoise looks loud, consider Soft Autumn. |
| White test | Cream #F5D89A | Optical White #FFFFFF | Cream should look clean and sunny. Bright white tends to look stark and make warm skin look yellow by comparison. |
| Dark neutral test | Chocolate #5C4430 | Jet Black #111111 | Chocolate should define the face without weight. Black tends to sit in front of the face, drain warmth and deepen shadows. |
| Depth test | Golden Yellow #D8A838 | Warm Autumn Bronze #987028 | A Warm Spring looks fresh and awake in the clear golden yellow. If the deep, earthy bronze looks richer and the yellow looks too sweet, consider Warm Autumn. |
| Blue test | Cornflower #7895C8 | Cool Winter Royal Blue #1860A0 | The warm, clear cornflower should blend with your coloring. The deep, cool royal blue tends to look harsh and make golden skin look sallow. |
Warm Spring color palette: the best colors
Warm Spring colors are fully warm and clear. Think of a garden in full spring sun: buttery yellow and marigold, peach and coral, fresh grass green and yellow-green, clear turquoise and warm cornflower blue, poppy red and warm rose. Every color has yellow in it and none has grey, which is what lets it sit in harmony with golden, glowing coloring.
The palette sits mostly in light-to-medium values. Your strongest colors are medium and bright, with cream and tan as the lightest neutrals and chocolate, navy and warm browns as the darkest. The very darkest browns in the palette work best away from the face or in small amounts; near the face, a clear medium color nearly always beats a dark one.
Use the measured ranges as a shopping check: Warm Spring colors sit in a medium-to-high chroma band (clear, not neon), with hues concentrated in the yellow, orange and yellow-green range, plus warm turquoise and soft warm blues. A color that looks "dusty", "smoky", "icy" or "blue-based" is almost always outside the range.

Colors to avoid for Warm Spring
- Anything cool or blue-based (icy pastels, magenta, blue-red, cool grey) clashes with your warmth and makes skin look yellow or sallow.
- Anything muted or dusty (mauve, taupe, dusty rose, grey-green) dulls the natural glow of your coloring.
- Very dark, heavy colors (jet black, charcoal, deep jewel tones) are darker than your coloring and drag the face down.
- Stark extremes (jet black, optical white, and the two together) create harsher contrast than your coloring has.
Swap this for that
Jet Black #111111 → Chocolate #5C4430
Too dark and cool; it drains warmth from your face.
Optical White #FFFFFF → Cream #F5D89A
Too stark and blue; skin looks yellow next to it.
Soft Summer Soft Gray #C4C4C1 → Tan #C8A878
Grey with no warmth flattens a golden complexion.
Light Pink #E8C8E0 → Peach #D89860
Icy and cool against warm skin.
Cool Winter Magenta #C8286F → Raspberry #CF4870
Too cool and too deep for golden coloring.
Taupe Gray #707058 → Olive #889048
Too muted; the grey in it dulls your glow.
Best neutrals for Warm Spring
Your neutrals are warm and clear: cream, tan, caramel, warm brown, chocolate and a clear, slightly bright navy.
Swap black for chocolate or navy. Swap bright white for cream or warm ivory. Swap grey and charcoal for tan, caramel or warm brown.
Unlike muted seasons, Warm Springs do not need neutrals to do most of the work. A warm neutral base with one clear color near the face is the easiest formula, but whole outfits in your brighter colors also work.
Warm Spring outfits, clothing and color combinations
The best Warm Spring combinations repeat the warmth and medium contrast of your coloring. Tone-on-tone outfits in warm neutrals (cream, tan, caramel) look polished, and analogous outfits (neighboring warm colors such as coral and butter yellow) look sunny and effortless. When you want more energy, use a balanced contrast: two clear colors from opposite sides of the color wheel, such as cornflower with peach.
Use proportions to keep outfits balanced: about 60% main color (often a warm neutral), 30% secondary color, and 10% accent. Warm Springs can push the accent brighter than most seasons, so a clear coral, turquoise or golden yellow near the face is usually the best place for it.

Prints, fabrics, metals and jewelry for Warm Spring

Prints and patterns
- Choose clear, cheerful prints with warm colors and medium internal contrast: florals and botanicals, geometric and graphic prints, stripes, paisleys, and bold motifs in sunny colors.
- Keep at least 60–70% of a print's colors inside your palette, and avoid prints built on black, icy white or cool grey grounds.
- Small-to-medium and bold-but-clear prints look most natural. Murky, very dark or heavily blended prints dull your coloring; harsh black-and-white graphics overpower it.
- Animal prints work in their golden, warmer versions (honey leopard, caramel tortoise) rather than black-and-white or grey.
Fabrics and finishes
- Fabrics with a natural sheen or crisp surface echo Warm Spring coloring: cotton poplin, linen, silk, satin, fine-gauge knits, lightweight wool, polished leather and suede in warm colors.
- Very heavy, matte or felted fabrics in dark colors can look dull on you. If you love texture, choose it in lighter, warmer colors.
- You can wear shine and sparkle well: gold thread, metallic leather, satin and soft sequins all suit warm, glowing coloring, especially in golden or coral tones.
Best metals for Warm Spring
Because the undertone is fully warm, gold is clearly your metal: yellow gold, rose gold and bronze all look natural. Silver can be worn if you love it, but it usually looks a little cold next to your skin; mixed-metal pieces with plenty of gold are an easy compromise.
Best
Polished yellow gold, Rose gold, Bronze
Also good
Brushed gold, Copper, Brass
Use with care
Bright polished silver, Platinum, Gunmetal and black metal
Stones: Coral, Citrine, Sunstone, Golden beryl, Spessartite garnet, Tsavorite, Turquoise, Cream or golden pearls.
- Glasses frames: honey or light tortoiseshell, caramel, warm brown, coral, warm green, or polished gold metal. Avoid black, grey and silver frames.
- Nails: peach, coral, warm nude, poppy red, warm pink, golden metallic; glossy finishes work well.
- Bags and shoes: tan, caramel, cognac, warm brown and navy leather rather than black.
Warm Spring makeup and hair colors

Foundation
Look for warm or golden shades, often labeled W or Y (golden), with a luminous, satin or natural finish. Pink-based or cool shades will look grey or ashy on golden skin. Test in daylight on the jawline.
Blush and bronzer
Peach, coral, apricot and warm salmon pink. A warm, golden bronzer adds a sun-kissed glow; a soft golden highlighter works well too.
Lips
Peach, coral, apricot and warm pink for every day; poppy red, red-orange and warm rose for evening. Glossy, satin and matte finishes all work. Avoid blue-reds, mauves and cool, frosty pinks.
Eyes
Golden browns, caramel, peach, copper, bronze and warm greens. Turquoise or a warm green liner adds a clear pop of color.
Liner and mascara
Brown, bronze, copper or warm brown-black. Black mascara works for deeper or higher-contrast Warm Springs; on fair, light-haired Warm Springs, brown usually looks softer.

Best hair colors for Warm Spring
Warm Springs look best in hair colors that stay golden and clear: golden blonde, strawberry blonde, honey and caramel brown, copper, warm auburn and warm golden brown.
Avoid colors that cool or dull your coloring: ash blonde, platinum, cool or ashy brown, jet black and blue-black.
Dimension helps. Golden, honey or copper highlights a shade or two lighter than your base give the sunlit effect Warm Spring hair has naturally.
Talking to your colourist
- Bring this phrase: "I'm a Warm Spring: warm and clear. I want a golden, bright, warm color with natural highlights, nothing ashy, smoky or very dark."
- Ask for golden, copper or warm tones (often called G, C or warm series) rather than ash or neutral-ash.
- Keep the color within about two levels of your natural depth, and lean lighter rather than darker if in doubt.
- Ask for a golden gloss every few months to keep the color shiny and warm rather than faded or dull.
- Bring photos of the result you want in daylight, not under salon lights.
Warm Spring going grey and over 50
Going grey as a Warm Spring
- Natural grey on a Warm Spring often comes in as a warm, creamy or golden-white grey, sometimes with strands of the original gold or copper still mixed in.
- If you are going grey, golden or honey highlights blend the transition better than covering it with one dark shade, which adds contrast and looks heavy as roots grow.
- Once your hair is lighter, keep warmth near the face with cream, peach, coral, golden yellow and turquoise, and use navy, brown and caramel for trousers, coats and bags. Avoid cool silver-greys near the face, which can make warm skin look sallow next to grey hair.
Warm Spring over 50
- Your season does not usually change with age, but your contrast and depth often soften. The clearest, lightest colors in the palette (peach, coral, butter yellow, turquoise) tend to look best.
- Black and very dark colors become harder to wear as coloring softens. Navy, chocolate and caramel keep definition without adding age.
- Warmth near the face (coral, peach blush, a warm lip) restores color that skin loses over time.
- Luminous or satin makeup stays flattering; very matte, heavy foundations can make warm skin look flat, and chunky shimmer can emphasize texture.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Warm Spring | Warm | Light-medium | Bright (clear) | Sunny, golden, fresh |
| Light Spring | Neutral-warm | Light | Medium-clear | Light, delicate, airy |

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Warm Autumn | Golden Yellow | Camel | Tan | Steel Blue | Navy | Olive | Orange | Pink | Cream |
Warm Spring vs. Warm Autumn (True Autumn)
What they share: Both are fully warm seasons that suit gold, golden yellow, terra cotta and olive.
What separates them: Value and chroma. Warm Spring is lighter and clearer; Warm Autumn is deeper, richer and more earthy.
Drape test: Compare a clear coral with a deep rust. If the rust looks rich rather than heavy, you are probably Warm Autumn; if coral makes you glow, you are on the Spring side.
Warm Spring vs. Light Spring
What they share: Both are warm, clear Spring seasons that suit gold, peach, coral and turquoise.
What separates them: Which quality leads. Warm Spring is defined by warmth and carries medium, richer colors; Light Spring is defined by lightness and needs paler, more delicate ones.
Drape test: Compare a clear golden yellow with a light, buttery pastel. If the golden yellow looks sunny rather than heavy, you are probably Warm Spring; if it overpowers you and the pastel looks best, consider Light Spring.
Warm Spring vs. Bright Spring (Clear Spring)
What they share: Both are clear, warm-leaning Spring seasons with lively coloring.
What separates them: Which quality leads. Warm Spring is defined by warmth; Bright Spring is defined by brightness, with more contrast and room for slightly cooler, more saturated colors.
Drape test: Compare a warm turquoise with a vivid emerald or hot pink. If the vivid color looks striking rather than loud, you are probably Bright Spring.

Making the change to a Warm Spring wardrobe
- Don't throw everything out. Sort your wardrobe into three piles: in-palette, close (wearable with help), and out.
- Move out-of-palette colors away from your face. Grey trousers or a black skirt can stay; a black or grey top can be worn under a cream or caramel layer, or with a scarf in coral, turquoise or golden yellow.
- Replace the pieces you wear most first: coat, everyday knitwear and your most-worn tops.
- Shop with your palette on your phone. Compare the item to your swatches in daylight before buying.
- Change makeup, jewelry and glasses frames early: they sit closest to your face and make the biggest difference for the least money.
- Give it four to six weeks. Most people notice they get more compliments and spend less time deciding what to wear.
Self-test: are you a Warm Spring?
Six or seven "yes" answers: Warm Spring is very likely. Four or five: you are probably a warm season; check the Light Spring, Bright Spring and Warm Autumn comparisons below. Three or fewer: look at the other seasons in the Hathaura Color Standard, or book a professional analysis.
Warm Spring FAQ
What colors look best on a Warm Spring?
Warm, clear, light-to-medium colors: cream, tan, caramel, golden yellow, peach, coral, salmon, terra cotta, poppy red, warm rose, grass green, turquoise, cornflower and a clear navy. Every color has yellow in it and none has grey.
Can Warm Springs wear black?
Not near the face, ideally. Black is too dark and cool for golden coloring. Navy, chocolate and warm brown give the same definition. If you love black, wear it on the lower half or with a cream, coral or golden layer near your face.
Can Warm Springs wear white?
Choose cream or warm ivory instead of bright optical white, which can make warm skin look yellow by comparison.
Is Warm Spring warm or cool?
Fully warm. It is the warmest of the Spring seasons, which is why gold, coral and golden yellow look so natural and why cool colors and silver can look cold on it.
What is the difference between Warm Spring and Warm Autumn?
Both are fully warm. Warm Spring is lighter and clearer (coral, peach, golden yellow, turquoise); Warm Autumn is deeper and more earthy (rust, mustard, olive, chocolate). Test a clear coral against a deep rust in daylight.
Can Warm Springs wear gold or silver jewelry?
Gold is the clear winner: polished yellow gold, rose gold and bronze all suit you. Silver can be worn if you love it, but it usually looks a little cold; mixed-metal pieces with plenty of gold are an easy middle ground.
What hair color suits a Warm Spring?
Golden, clear shades within about two levels of your natural color: golden or strawberry blonde, honey or caramel brown, copper, warm auburn or warm golden brown. Avoid ash, platinum, jet black and blue-black.
Is a selfie color analysis app accurate for Warm Spring?
It can be a useful first read, but lighting matters a lot, because warm bulbs can make almost anyone look like a Warm Spring. In our data, when people retook a selfie analysis, the season changed 62% of the time. Use daylight, no filters, and confirm with drape tests or a professional.
Can your season change from Warm Spring as you age?
Your underlying season usually stays the same, but contrast and depth often soften with age and greying hair. Many Warm Springs find the lighter, clearest colors in the palette work best later in life.
